Why does my account have a negative balance?

Your account balance can go negative for a number of reasons:

SpotMe covered you

When you overdraw your account and SpotMe covers you, your balance remains negative until your next direct deposit or transfer of funds into your Checking Account. ZenFunds then automatically uses that deposit amount to pay off the negative balance.

A pending transaction or authorization hold settled for a larger amount

This may happen if you buy gas, reserve a hotel room, or rent a car and the final charge exceeds what the merchant had anticipated when they placed the hold. Contact us if you think your transaction settled for the wrong amount.

A merchant issued a force post transaction

Sometimes merchants will force post a transaction for things like late payments or when a final charge amount exceeds what was initially paid. Contact us if you think your transaction was posted for an incorrect amount.
