Direct deposit is the easiest and most reliable way to deposit funds to your Checking Account, although it is certainly not the only one. We also support ACH transfers, cash deposits, and Mobile Check Deposit.
Transfer Initiated from ZenFunds:
You can link an external bank account you own to your ZenFunds Checking Account in the Move Money section of the ZenFunds app or by logging into your account online. Under Move Money, go select Transfers and you will then be prompted to enter your other bank’s login credentials. Your external bank account will be instantly linked to your Checking Account.
Once the external account is linked, you can make unlimited transfers from the external account to your Checking Account. Transferred funds will be available within 5 business days.
We support transfers from the following banks: Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, US Bank, USAA, Fidelity, PNC Bank, Capital One 360, TD Bank, SunTrust, Navy Federal & Charles Schwab. We hope to add others in the near future!
If you get an error when using the ZenFunds app to transfer money from a linked external account into your ZenFunds Checking Account, try logging into the external account and transferring the money from there. To do this, you may need your account number and routing number, which you can find in the ZenFunds app under Settings.
Transfer Initiated from an External Account:
Most banks will allow you to make transfers to ZenFunds from their website. If you have an external bank that offers this service, just log in to their website and add ZenFunds by providing your ZenFunds routing number and Checking Account number.
Mobile Check Deposit:
ZenFunds will determine if you are eligible for Mobile Check Deposit based on the history of any ZenFunds-branded accounts you have, direct deposit history, direct deposit amounts, and other risk-based factors. For example, ZenFunds offers Mobile Check Deposit to members who have received at least one direct deposit of $1 or more since June 1, 2021* from one of the following sources:
- Employer or payroll provider
- Gig economy payer via automated clearing house (ACH) transfer or Original Credit Transaction (OCT)
- Government benefits
Thirty days after you receive your payroll direct deposit, Mobile Check Deposit will be automatically enabled in your ZenFunds app. You may receive access to the feature based on other risk-based factors.
*If you already had access to Mobile Check Deposit before June 1, 2021, you can still use the feature even if you haven’t had a qualifying direct deposit since that date.
Cash Deposits at a Retail Location:
You can deposit cash to your ZenFunds Checking Account at over 90,000 retail locations. Simply ask the cashier to make a deposit to your ZenFunds account at the register. You can make up to 3 deposits every 24 hours. You can deposit a maximum of $1,000 every 24 hours and up to $10,000.00 every month.
You can deposit cash to your ZenFunds Checking Account at Walgreens locations, including Duane Reade locations, without fees. Other third-party money transfer services that are used to add funds to your ZenFunds Checking Account may impose their own fees or limits such as:
- Fees per transaction
- Daily, weekly, or monthly limits on the frequency or the amount of cash you may add to the ZenFunds Checking Account

When you deposit cash to your ZenFunds Checking Account, it is transferred by a third party to your account. Your funds will be FDIC insured once the ZenFunds partner bank that holds your account receives the funds from the third party.
